The Penn State Karate Club will hold a demonstration on Tuesday, May 27th at 7:30PM in Room 132 White Building on Penn State's Campus. Everyone is invited to attend. We will be going through many of the skills that we practice on a regular basis including upper and lower body basics, kata (traditional forms), kumite (sparring), and tameshiwari (breaking of construction materials).
The first summer session begins on May 19th and runs to June 27th. During this time, crews will be refinishing the floor in our beloved Room 106 White Building. Over the winter break, both the floor and one of the walls sustained some water damage. For the time being, we will have workouts in rooms 50/51 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If all goes well with the floor repair, we'll be back in 106 for the 2nd session, starting on July 2nd.

Master Kichiro Shimabuku will be visiting the United States in June 2009 for the Isshinryu World Championships in Pittsburgh, PA. Details to follow.
The Penn State Karate Club (PSKC) is the oldest university-based martial arts program in the U.S. It has been an active part of the Penn State University experience for over 36 years. Founding member Master Dane Sutton, 8th Dan, is presently the head instructor and a club advisor. While at Penn State, Kiyoshigo (Master Instructor) Sutton, has taught Karate to more than 7,000 PSU students and promoted more than 250 Karate Club members to Black Belt. Many of these Black Belts have gone on to establish their own schools or are instructing for law enforcement agencies or the U.S. military. In June of 2007, Okinawan Grandmaster Kichiro Shimabuku presented Kiyoshigo Sutton with a special award for his extraordinary accomplishments and dedication to Isshinryu Karate.
